These People Have No Shame

John Kerry is in full anti-Vietnam War anti-America mode. He's now calling our troops fighting overseas terrorists. James Taranto, writing for Best of the Web (link), has a transcript of an interview with Bob Schieffer of CBS's "Face the Nation":

Schieffer: Let me shift to another point of view, and it comes from another Democrat, Joe Lieberman of Connecticut. He takes a very different view. He says basically we should stay because, he says, real progress is being made. He said this is a war between 27 million Iraqis' freedom and 10,000 terrorists. He says we're in a watershed transformation. What about that?

Kerry: Let me--I--first of all, there is so much more that unites Democrats than divides us. And Democrats have much more in common with each other than they do with George Bush's policy right now. Now Joe Lieberman, I believe, also voted for the resolution which said the president needs to make more clear what he's doing and set out benchmarks, and that the policy hasn't been working. We all believe him when you say, 'Stay the course.' That's the president's policy, which hasn't been changing, which is a policy of failure. I don't agree with that. But I think what we need to do is recognize what we all agree on, which is you've got to begin to set benchmarks for accomplishment. You've got to begin to transfer authority to the Iraqis.

And there is no reason, Bob, that young American soldiers need to be going into the homes of Iraqis in the dead of night, terrorizing kids and children, you know, women, breaking sort of the customs of the--of--the historical customs, religious customs. Whether you like it or not -

Schieffer: Yeah. (link)

John Kerry should apologize to the men and women in uniform who are risking their lives to protect his sorry ass. He won't do it of course. And the mainstream media will give him a pass - again. But his defamation of our military heroes is despicable.

The Democratic Party must be very proud.

The Path To Prosperity

For those in Southwest Virginia who think the way to turn around the area's economic prospects is to have a handful of academics and bureaucrats formulate a "comprehensive, progressive agenda" that would only bring about more stagnation and suffering, I offer the following wisdom from someone who's gittin 'er done.
Government does not create wealth. American businesses and workers and farmers and entrepreneurs create the wealth for this country. And so the role of the government is to create an environment where the small businesses can grow into a big business, where the entrepreneur can flourish, where people who dream about owning a home are able to own a home. In our economy, our most precious resource is the talent of the American worker - and there is no limit to what we can do when people have the freedom to make a better life for themselves and their family.

The reason capitalism works and all other economic systems involving collective control of the means of power and therefore the means of production fail, to one degree or another, is because thousands upon thousands - millions - of people participate in the decision-making. Some fail; others prosper. We all learn from the mistakes of the former and benefit from the successes of the latter.

Unleash the dogs of capitalism and watch in awe as prosperity returns to a troubled land.

Either that or build a few more hiking trails with precious taxpayers' money and wait for a tourist to come along and buy your pots.

We Can Run; We Can Hide

I guess Congressman John Murtha, posterboy for the looney left, would have us retreat from Israel now too:

Palestinian Bomber Kills Himself and 5 Others Near Israel Mall
GREG MYRE, New York Times

NETANYA, Israel, Dec. 5 - An Israeli security guard stopped a Palestinian suicide bomber from entering a busy shopping mall in this seaside town on Monday, but the bomber still detonated his explosives, killing himself and five other people and wounding dozens, the Israeli police said.

The attack was the third time since April 2001 that a Palestinian bomber had struck in the same place - just outside the main entrance to the Sharon mall in Netanya. The mall is named for a region in Israel, not for the prime minister. The bombers have not been able to get past security guards to enter the mall proper, where many more casualties could occur. Still, the three bombings, which included attacks in May 2001 and July 12 of this year, have killed 15 people. (link)

The Democratic Party in this country is now the party of cowards. To retreat in the face of the enemy in Iraq will bring about this kind of terrorism across the planet. And they are more than willing to accept that.

CBS News Selects New Anchors

CBS chose a couple of replacements for Dan Blather. Elizabeth something and ... I forget the name of her co-anchor. (link)
