Sentence: Death By Endless Babble

As a harbinger of things to come if the International Criminal Court gets our eventual support, the ICC passed its sentence finally on Slobodan Milosevic today: Death By Perpetual Proceedings:
Slobodan Milosevic Dies in Prison Cell
By Arthur Max, Associated Press Write

Former Yugoslav leader Slobodan Milosevic, the so-called "butcher of the Balkans" being tried for war crimes after orchestrating a decade of bloodshed that killed 250,000 people and broke up his country, was found dead Saturday in his prison cell. He was 64.

Milosevic, who suffered chronic heart ailments and high blood pressure, apparently died of natural causes and was found in his bed, the U.N. tribunal said, without giving an exact time of death.

Slobodan Milosevic has been on trial since February 2002, defending himself against 66 counts of crimes, including genocide, in Croatia, Bosnia and Kosovo. (link)
That last sentence could have included an additional clause: "... on trial for four years with no end in sight ..."

How embarrassing. The European judicial system befuddled this mass murderer to death.

Leave It To The Times

On the very day that we are trying to deal with the news that a Christian missionary was bound and executed by Islamist terrorists in Iraq, the Roanoke Times editorial staff devotes itself to the treatment of terrorists in U.S. custody. They want the torture to stop.

These people are pathetic:
Hypocrisy on human rights

A State Department report looks at abuses by other nations, but ignores accusations of torture, and worse, against the United States

With its annual international human rights report, the U.S. State Department tossed a big rock around in the glass house of abuse built by the Bush administration.

As usual, the report looks only at the behavior of others. Human rights abuses within the United States or U.S.-controlled facilities like the Guantanamo detention center are omitted.

If the State Department wants to blunt the inevitable charges of hypocrisy next year, it will make at least as honest an appraisal of U.S. behavior as it does of other nations. (link)

That appraisal is right there under your noses, you doorknobs. The chapter in the State Department report that deals with torture of detainees in the U.S. is absent information because we don't toture people - at Guantanamo or San Quentin or even at Abu Ghraib - as much as you and your kind wish we would - despite the best efforts of your ACLU pals to find it.

These leftists are so blinded by their hatred of America that they can't see the forest for the trees.

I was thinking the other day - I would not want to be an executive at KFC about now. I'm not alone:
No Time to Be in the Chicken Business
By John Tagliabue, The New York Times

PARIS, March 9 — For European restaurants that serve mainly chicken, the last few weeks have been a nail-biting time.

What has kept his customers away, Mr. Mendy said over coffee, is uncertainty about avian flu. Though the bird flu virus is killed when chicken is cooked, and KFC, a unit of Yum Brands, has said little about its effect thus far on sales, the chain has put up posters intended to assure customers that the food is safe. (link)

You saw what the mainstream media can do with a story about our vice president shooting his hunting party. They went hysterical. They will do the same with the first instance of a dead chicken found in some coop in Amarillo being suspected of having succumbed to avain flu. And they will begin the process of scaring the beejeebers out of every man, woman, and child in the country.

My message to you is: Fight the mainstream media. Go out and get a bucket of chicken for lunch. (Order it extra crispy ... to kill all that avian flu.)

Why We Fight

The anti-war left would have us leave Iraq immediately. Like that will put a stop to the slaughter of innocents:
Christian Worker Kidnapped in Iraq Last Year Is Found Slain
Michele Kayal, The New York Times

An American Christian aid worker kidnapped last year in Iraq has been killed, according to the State Department and the group he worked with.

A State Department spokesman, Noel Clay, told The Associated Press that the F.B.I. had verified that a body found yesterday morning in Iraq was that of Tom Fox, 54, of Clearbrook, Va. Mr. Fox was abducted Nov. 26 with three other workers with Christian Peacemaker Teams, but Mr. Clay said he had no information on the other three hostages. (link)
The left in this country will blame George Bush for Fox's murder even though the slaughter of innocents by Islamists around the globe began long before Bush ever came on the scene. And the slaughter will go on ...

A Muslim Woman Speaks Out

The war on terror will end when Muslim women come forward dragging Muslim men kicking and screaming into the 21st century. One such woman has:
For Muslim Who Says Violence Destroys Islam, Violent Threats
By John M. Broder, The New York Times

LOS ANGELES, March 10 — Three weeks ago, Dr. Wafa Sultan was a largely unknown Syrian-American psychiatrist living outside Los Angeles, nursing a deep anger and despair about her fellow Muslims.

Today, thanks to an unusually blunt and provocative interview on Al Jazeera television on Feb. 21, she is an international sensation, hailed as a fresh voice of reason by some, and by others as a heretic and infidel who deserves to die.

In the interview, which has been viewed on the Internet more than a million times and has reached the e-mail of hundreds of thousands around the world, Dr. Sultan bitterly criticized the Muslim clerics, holy warriors and political leaders who she believes have distorted the teachings of Muhammad and the Koran for 14 centuries.

She said the world's Muslims, whom she compares unfavorably with the Jews, have descended into a vortex of self-pity and violence.

Dr. Sultan said the world was not witnessing a clash of religions or cultures, but a battle between modernity and barbarism, a battle that the forces of violent, reactionary Islam are destined to lose. (link)
The Muslim world has reacted to her scolding barbarously, of course:
In response, clerics throughout the Muslim world have condemned her, and her telephone answering machine has filled with dark threats.
Dr. Sultan lives in California so her ability to fully exercise her 2nd Amendment right is limited. But I hope she has people there in Los Angeles to protect her. She's going to need it.
