The Tax Man Cometh
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out where this is going. Our governor now has the "crisis" he's been waiting for.

Forget that vacation. If Kaine gets his way, your taxes are about to go up. A lot:

Kaine tackles transport tax plan
By Seth McLaughlin, The Washington Times

Gov. Tim Kaine will likely call lawmakers into a special session to replace $325 million for Northern Virginia transportation projects lost when the state Supreme Court yesterday struck down a regional taxing authority passed last year by the General Assembly.

"Waiting until next year is not in his plans," said Kaine spokesman Gordon Hickey, adding that the governor was "willing to call a special session to deal with the issue" and was talking to Senate and House leaders about the next steps in the process. (link)
Translated that means the governor and his Democrat henchmen in the senate are plotting the makeup of the package of tax increases they'll be introducing.

Recession? Inflation? Food prices? Gasoline prices? Housing implosion?

Tough.

The Democrats' unremitting thirst for tax revenue must be sated.

The Washington Post, with a bit too much glee, proposes an increase in gas taxes AND sales taxes. Just for starters.
