Kilgore Thrashes Anti-Coal Crowd
Future 9th District Congressman Terry Kilgore (R-Gate City) spoke to an assembled group from the Virginia Mining Association in Norton on Saturday, telling an enthusiastic crowd that the coal-fired power plant in Wise County is going to happen and that those opposed to it can kiss his ass need to get out of our way.

Kilgore: 'We will prevail' on St. Paul power plant

Norton — State Delegate Terry Kilgore, R-Gate City, said opponents to a coal-fired power plant in St. Paul should prepare to be disappointed with improving economic conditions in Southwest Virginia.

“A lot of you, and me personally, have been attacked (including by) one of our local newspapers [gf: I wonder which one that could be ...]. When did coal become a four-letter word?” Kilgore said.

“I’m telling you, we will prevail on this power plant,” he told about 125 VMA members. He urged the industry to “continue to make your voice heard: in Richmond and Congress.

“Vocal minorities are out there trying to run this country,” Kilgore said. “You all must stay involved and speak your mind on this and other issues important to coal.” (link)
As Kilgore well knows, this issue goes way beyond coal. It even transcends any discussion about Southwest Virginia. The very future of the United States of America is at stake now that energy costs have soared and refinement and production capacity are reaching maximum output.

America needs power. Southwest Virginia sits on an abundance of it. We'll no longer be pushed around by muddlebrained outsiders who expect this area to remain in third-world status forever, so that they can come down here once a year and marvel at our wonderful trees and bushes, and return home and live the lives of profligate luxury. No longer.

The power plant is going in. Terry Kilgore and those who supported the plant from the outset are to be thanked.
