A Real Eye Opener

I have to tell you, I've not paid much attention to the career of Delegate Bob Marshall, or to his run for the office of governor of our fair state. There's no way in heck he's going to beat Jim Gilmore for the Republican nomination, so why bother.

But I was reading Carl Kilo's weblog post on Marshall receiving the endorsement of the Sierra Club yesterday and now the man has my attention. We have a host of Democrats in this state who dance to that environmental extremist organization's tune, do we need to promote Republicans who do as well?

But that's not all. Just as enlightening are some of the comments left on Carl's site regarding the man-who-would-be-governor.

"Larry in Haysi" says:

"We damn sure dont need his anti-coal behind in Washington."

"Alpha Miner":

"I read Marshall's Anti Gun bills and he will not get my support no matter what the GOA thinks. No knives in parks? Pleeeeeze."

Assuming any of this is true (it should be noted that Mr. Marshall responded to some of the allegations and denied them), Marshall may very well be anti-coal, anti-gun, and pro-Sierra Club. The only hot-button issues not addressed are abortion and taxes. I shudder to think where he stands on these matters.

I guess it would be worth everyone's while to get to know this man. He may be our next governor ... if he gets loads of support from up north. He's certainly going to need it.

Jerry,
I can say this about Bob Marshall - He is pro life.
I have real problems with his ties to the Sierra Club. His defense of that is very weak in his comment...comparing it to Jesus consorting with the sinners? I had to delete a few comments over that statement. It is hard to swallow his comment when the residents here are fighting tooth and nail for a power plant that will supply over 50% of the county tax base and he flys the Sierra Club banner.
Next thing is Alton's comment. Marshall said rt58 is "just another public works project"...That is also hard to digest.
The gun bills are linked in this post and I hope your readers take a look.

Marshall says it is not gun control, but the bill begins with

Does this mean I can't carry a hunting knife?

And, the republican(?) dolts have just given the Sierra Club and co-conspirators the ammunition to kill our coal-fired electric plant-"endangered" polar bears. (I know you'll think I've lost my marbles but the emissions from the Virginia plant will poison the atmosphere, cause more warming which will melt polar ice, etc.)
