Hello to all of the From On High readers! My Father, Jerry, has asked that I deliver a message to all of you. My Dad has had a weather related computer malfunction. When I noticed that he had not updated his blog today I immediately called thinking there must be a major crisis. He has called a tech to help get back online but it will be Monday or Tuesday before anyone can take a look at it.

He will be back in short order to continue posting on From On High. Until then, I will be taking over the blog to discuss fashion tips. Just kidding Dad!

Hopefully he will back online Monday... Until then, a tip of the hat from the coast of North Carolina.

Thank you, Ma'am. Worried your Dad was ill or had some disaster. About those fashion tips--is it ever proper for a feller to wear white socks? (It drives my kids nuts and my favorite wife isn't exactly thrilled either.)

It is only appropriate to wear white socks when wearing athletic shoes of some kind. But even then, they need to be ankle socks. Not shin high and certainly never pulled up to your knees. Never, ever, ever, wear white socks with sandals. I have tried to break my Father of that habit since I was old enough to talk. :)

Thanks for letting us know your dad is ok. Just like Wicked Dickie I also didn't have good feelings when I noticed this afternoon that Jerry hadn't made any entries for today. Anyone who follows this blog knows Jerry is as dependable and regular as Joe Biden gaffes.

I am sure he is going crazy right about now. Updating this blog is such a huge part of his day.

The amount of dedication and commitment it takes to keep on like he does with this blog is impressive. While I disagree with a majority of what he says, I am thankful for his work, this forum, and the time and energy he takes in producing it. Props to Jerry. May broadband service be restored soon!!

For many years now my Father has devoted quality time out of his life to this blog. I am astounded by his dedication. At times I know it drives my Mother crazy but at the same time we are proud of the efforts he makes here daily. My Father raised both of his kids to have minds of their own and to always question what is going on in the world around us. As we have grown I am sure he regrets that from time to time as we don't always agree with him. At the same time though, I know he is proud of the fact that we have forged our own paths and formed our own opinions even when they differ from his own. I appreciate the intelligent debate that goes on here and only get worked up when some of it deviates into name calling and cheap shots. (Guilty parties: raise your hands). I read my Dad's blog every morning and look forward to hearing what he has to say. The most beautiful part of it though is that he has created a piece of himself over the years that will be there for his children and grandchildren to always treasure. I have saved the entire blog, back to 2004, for my son. He will never have to wonder what his Gramps thought or felt about anything!

Global warming?

I thought the Roanoke county dim's had found the next warm body they would turn cold, and dead.
"Global warming?". More likely it 'froze' up or washed away. Even mother nature is making an ass of Algorabge.
