Hey, It Got James Webb Elected

The Washington Post trumps up a charge against a Republican contender, pounds away at it on its front page, and ... voila ... we get another feckless bumbling Democrat in office.

Can you say MACACA?
Governor's Race Erupts Over McDonnell's Past Views
By Amy Gardner, Rosalind S. Helderman and Anita Kumar, Washington Post Staff Writers

The Virginia governor's race ignited Monday over Republican Robert F. McDonnell's 20-year-old graduate thesis: Democrats assailed him in e-mail blasts and interviews for what he wrote about working women, homosexuals and "fornicators," and McDonnell tried to explain his views to crucial moderate and female voters.

After a sleepy summer filled with rural RV tours and policy papers on energy and the economy, news of the thesis, first reported Sunday in The Washington Post, pushed the race to a fever pitch.

McDonnell's opponent, Democrat R. Creigh Deeds, bombarded state and national media with details of the thesis, submitted by McDonnell in 1989 for a master of arts in public policy and juris doctorate in law from Regent University in Virginia Beach.

The Deeds campaign sent out a fundraising appeal with ... [link]

Give me a minute. My laughter sent Wheaties flying all over my keyboard. "News of the thesis pushed the race to a fever pitch"? "The race ignited?" In the Washington Post unisex bathroom maybe. Those who live in Virginia, on the other hand, don't give two squirts about this bit of silliness.

Maybe I shouldn't be too dismissive though. The snakes at the Post did, in fact, convince the electorate here that macaca was not only a word, but that it was a bad - shockingly bad - word, requiring that George Allen be run out of office.

Looking back on that little episode, you feel kind of ashamed of yourself for having gotten caught up in it, don't you?

Well, welcome to Macaca II.

Jerry,

Why not enlighten us on what Macaca really means...

Also, to be noted is that McDonnell was 34 years old when he wrote this thesis, so why would I think that his views have changed here?

I see Webb found a way to return to the Far East where he can sexually molest young boys without fear of the law. His book is not in the third person but about himself. Then I read that the U.S. government is trying to outlaw organized tours (to the Far East) that's only purpose is having sex with children. Looks like Webb will have to continue using his senate seat to justify his trips. Democrats are the masters of sleeze.

Droobie: His views on this matter - then and now - don't really interest me. If you get your undies in a bunch over them, be my guest. But we're not hiring him to be a priest. He's going to be tasked with turning this wayward state around. Keep that in mind.

As for macaca, it is, according to the Washington Post, a racial epithet known only to a small nomadic tribe of North African herdsmen. And George Allen.

Wow1 Can you believe what a weirdo that guy who pretends to be an "x-firefighter" is? Man, if you know his name and see him in your neighborhood hide your children and arm yourself!

Maybe the Professional Firefighters Association (IAAF) might know who he is!

Jerry,

So you listen to the Washington Post on matters of word definitions, but you deride them on all other matters? What a coincidence!

You are an keen person, so I believe that you know what George Allen meant by calling Sidarth a macaca. You just don't want to admit it.
