Election 2009: Virginia Governor Election
Virginia Governor: McDonnell 51% Deeds 42%
Rasmussen Reports

Republican Robert F. McDonnell has bounced back to a nine-point lead over Democrat R. Creigh Deeds in the race to become Virginia’s next governor.

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Virginia voters finds McDonnell attracting 51% of the vote while Deeds picks up 42%.

Over the past two weeks, McDonnell’s support has gone up three percentage points while Deeds has lost four points. After closing to essentially a toss-up in mid-September, the race is back to where it was in early September, when the GOP hopeful held a nine-point advantage.[link]
It was such a rush while it lasted, eh?

By the way, I thought you'd know by now to never distrust me.

Watching "Andy Griffith" the other day, I realized Drew is "From on High's" Ernest T. Bass, without the smarts.

I don't think Drew could ever be that annoying. Besides, it's just a matter of time before he comes out of the dark and into the light. He seems intelligent enough.

Just a matter of time ...

That'd be me Salt Dick... the best rock thrower in the county!

And you are right as well Jerry, I am intelligent enough... to stay liberal... it's just the way I am.

McDonnell is running as an independent. how many of his ads mention his party affiliation? Heck, for that matter how many of his ads tout his "conservative" credentials? The dude has successfully run to the middle and thus will be our next governor.

the question now becomes will he govern as a responsible moderate and thus in the process preserve Virginia's business-friendly position, or will he go off on some hairbrained conservative off ramp and screw up things here??

Jerry Fuhrman said...

I've met Mr. McDonnell. He's no hothead. And you needn't worry about some "conservative off ramp." He'll have his hands full trying to straighten out the mess that Kaine and Warner created in recent years.

Jerry,

Why would I want to be a conservative? Don't you know that conservatism is a mental illness?

Drew,

Most libs cannot debate an issue. Disagreement with policy = racist seems to be the main reply.

At least you supply info, so there is hope for you.

Al,

How interesting that you see that... I see that if you argue with a conservative that makes you un-American, a traitor or a non-patriot...

I congratulate you on getting praised by the teacher, Drew. Do y'all know each other outside this blog?

dr00bie said...

Nope... although he does live in a great place... a place I would also live if I were able to tele-commute instead of drive-commute.

Bland County is a grand place even if Jerry does live there! :)

Oh yes, Warner and Kaine really screwed up Virginia. Give me a break.

The state is on solid ground even in the midst of a very deep recession. The two areas that are of concern to Virginia are transportation (ports, rails, and roads) and education. But even with those concerns, I cannot think of a better state in which to start, create, or run a business, and raise a family, than Virginia. If you can think of a state that you think is better managed than Virginia, I suggest moving there.

Just about any Democrat Party run state comes to mind, anon 11:08, such as Michigan, Colleefornia, New Yawk, Rhode Island, Taxachussetts......Okay, okay, I'm laughing hysterically.

dr00bie said...

WD,

What are you talking about? Anon was talking about Virginia being the best state to start a business in, and Forbes agrees,

"The state, called "Earth's only paradise" by poet Michael Drayton, dominated our rankings, placing in the top ten in each of the six categories we examined: business costs, economic climate, growth prospects, labor, quality of life and regulatory environment. No other state placed in the top ten in more than three categories."

Missed it as usual, Drew. Anon asked to name a better managed state. I named several of the most mismanaged states--dem. states. You should move to one of them. Birds of a feather.

dr00bie said...

WD,

Are you conceding the point made by Anon? Virginia is the best managed state, and you all want to change this by putting into office a follower of the school of Bush. You saw what that did over 8 years, right?

Certainly Virginia is well-enough managed as the legislature keeps a lid on the socialist governor so he can't louse it up like the dems have done with other states. Colleefornia is a good example. A governor who is nominally a Republican but with the legislature controlled by the thieves and rascals who call themselves Democrats. Consequently, the state is bankrupt.
