We're Racists. Yada Yada Yada ...

Ramesh_Ponnuru:
Dissent, the Highest Form of Racism

Rep. Joe Wilson rightly apologized for his outburst during the President's speech to Congress, and the president accepted the apology. Yet that's not enough for some Democratic congressmen, who want to pass a resolution of disapproval of Wilson. (The Democrats who booed President Bush during his 2005 State of the Union address should but won't vote present.)

Nor is it enough for some people, such as Maureen Dowd, to say that Wilson was wrong. No, he was also, supposedly, racist. "Wilson clearly did not like being lectured and even rebuked by the brainy black president presiding over the majestic chamber. . . . Wilson’s shocking disrespect for the office of the president — no Democrat ever shouted 'liar' at W. when he was hawking a fake case for war in Iraq — convinced me: Some people just can’t believe a black man is president and will never accept it."

So now is anything that offends liberals racist, or does it have to be done by a white Southerner to count?
It becomes almost laughable, doesn't it?

I think the height of hilarity came when Obama adviser Van Jones's overtly racist comments from the past were quoted by Glenn Beck and others, and Beck, et al. were immediately declared to be ... you guessed it ... racists. You can't make this stuff up.

Jones: "You've never seen a Columbine done by a black child. Never. They always say, 'We can't believe it happened here. We can't believe it's these suburban white kids.' It's only them. Now, a black kid might shoot another black kid. He's not going to shoot up the whole school."

Jones: “The white polluters and the white environmentalists are essentially steering poison into the people of color communities because they don’t have a racial justice frame.”

And those who produce those quotes - including me, I suppose - are charged as being racists. Too funny.

Its like some kind of competition for the left to see who can come up with the most sensations statement to nail Wilson. Pretty soon it will be compared to slavery. I blame the tunnel-visioned MSM for this continued obsession with the word "liar".

And to take a vote against him in the House...what a joke! The House lets the likes of Rangel, Dodd, Jefferson, break the law and never let out a peep.
