Obama Lied

"If you like your health care plan, you keep your health care plan."
-- Barack Obama --

He knew it was a lie all along:
Administration: 51% Of Companies’ Health Plans Won’t Pass Muster
By Sean Higgins and David Hogberg, Investor's Business Daily

Internal White House documents reveal that 51% of employers may have to relinquish their current health care coverage by 2013 due to ObamaCare. That numbers soars to 66% for small-business employers.

The documents — product of a joint project of the Labor Department, the Health and Human Services Department and the IRS — examine the effects new regulations would have on existing, or “grandfathered,” employer-based health care plans.

Draft copies of the documents were reportedly leaked to House Republicans earlier in the week. Rep. Bill Posey, R-Fla., posted them on his Web site Friday afternoon. (View the full report here.)

According to the report, by 2013 51% of all employers — 66% of small employers (3-99 employees) and 45% of large employers — would have to relinquish current coverage. In a worst-case scenario, 69% of firms would lose their grandfathered status.

This could pose a serious threat to President Obama’s claim that if you like your coverage, you’d get to keep it. [link]
This deceit is what it took to get ObamaCare passed.  What was so great about it again?

To think, this guy is in our employ and we're letting him get away with this.

Obama Lied II

Well, two of his henchpersons were caught in a bold-faced lie to be accurate:
Another Stumble in the Gulf
By John Hinderaker, Powerline

The administration has decreed a six-month moratorium on exploratory drilling in the Gulf, based on a report that Interior Secretary Ken Salazar wrote for President Obama. Salazar claimed that a panel of seven experts selected by the National Academy of Engineering had peer reviewed his report. It turns out, though, that the seven experts never saw the recommendation for a moratorium, and in fact oppose it.

Carol Browner tried to claim that the administration did nothing wrong, but ... [link]
Why do these people feel the need to lie to us?

I'm Trying To Understand The Rules

So it's okay to carry a weapon to a polling place, stand at the entrance, and intimidate voters who try to enter?

The Obama administration apparently says ... yes.

Fish Food

I didn't want to touch this story until the little girl was safe on shore, but since she's been rescued, what in God's name do the parents of this 16-year-old child think their responsibility to her is?
French fishing boat rescues stranded Calif. teen
By Thomas Watkins, AP

Thousand Oaks, Calif. (AP) - A French fishing vessel rescued a California teenager Saturday from her crippled sailboat in the turbulent southern Indian Ocean, bringing relief to her family but ending her around-the-world sailing effort.

Laurence Sunderland, the father of 16-year-old Abby Sunderland, told reporters outside his home that the Australian Maritime Safety Authority had contacted him to confirm the rescue more than 2,000 miles from the western Australia coast.

Sunderland has been stranded in heavy seas since Thursday, when she set off a distress signal after the mast collapsed, knocking out her satellite communications. [link]
The father commented here: "I never questioned my decision in letting her go. In this day and age we get overprotective with our children.  Look at how many teenagers die in cars every year. Should we let teenagers drive cars? I think it'd be silly if we didn't."

Overprotection is one thing.  Allowing children to do stupid and extremely risky things to themselves is another.

He should thank his lucky stars ...

Said I to one of my children when growing up: "My job is to keep you from killing yourself until you grow up.  When you turn 18 you can then kill yourself."
