This The Best Virginia's Democrat Party Can Do?

I pay little attention to what happens in Virginia's 2nd Congressional District.  But judging by what I'm reading in the papers, residents in the area (Norfolk, Virginia Beach, and surrounding confines) must be pleased as punch with its representation in Washington.  This Glenn Nye character?  What a distorted understanding he has of the country he lives in.

Seems there is a gathering taking place over at Old Dominion University this weekend to celebrate the USA, the Fourth of July, and the birth of freedom.  To this nitwit?

"If you look at what they are doing this weekend, you'll know what they are really doing.  We don't need that kind of intolerance, that kind of hate-driven activity here in Hampton Roads."

I guess waving the flag and singing the National Anthem are "hate-driven."

You folks over in Hampton must be really proud of this jewel.

Patriots Gathering In Roanoke on the 4th ...

... to celebrate "the last best hope of earth."  An invitation:

You are cordially invited to attend An American Celebration on July 4, 2010!
Roanoke Tea Party and Fox Radio 910 are proud to announce a free, non-partisan event for the 4th of July at Roanoke’s Elmwood Park - and educational homage to our Independence.

The past year has seen a divisive and deeply partisan political environment develop across the US, and in our beloved Roanoke Valley as well. When issues are large and differences great, such passions can’t help but be inflamed.

But just as any family puts aside disputes for special events, The Roanoke Tea Party and Fox Radio 910 are inviting everyone, regardless of their political persuasion, to join us on July 4 for An American Celebration at Elmwood Park. You won’t hear denunciations of one party or effusive praise for another – just a joyful accounting of why we are proud to be Americans.

This event will be equal parts celebration, education, discussion and fun. Activities will be offered for children, teens and adults with a sincere appreciation for what the date commemorates, the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776. We will hear from area business leaders, military veterans, and naturalized citizens in the Roanoke Valley about what America means to them.
Best of all, this being the Fourth of July, you won't be pestered by those annoying liberals, commies, and Roanoke Times editorialists. They'd rather have their teeth pulled than be caught celebrating America. So enjoy yourself. Wave the flag. Sing this country's praises. Shout it from the rooftops.

While you're still allowed ...

This Takes Balls

In Southside Virginia, where unemployment is rampant, where joblessness is a way of life, where economic depression has settled in to stay, Congressman Tom Perriello - Democrat - touts his effort, in his first campaign ad of the season, to ...

... bring jobs to Southside Virginia?

Should the good people of the 5th Congressional District judge you on your rate of success, there, big guy?

If so ...

While Kagan Cracks Jokes ...

Onward through life he goes;
Each morning sees some task begin,
Each evening sees it close;
Something attempted, something done,
Has earned a night's repose.

Thanks, thanks to thee, my worthy friend,
For the lesson thou hast taught!
Thus at the flaming forge of life
Our fortunes must be wrought;
Thus on its sounding anvil shaped
Each burning deed and thought!

Onward through life he goes.
Is His Gun-Control Concurrence Justice Thomas’s Finest Hour?
By Ashby Jones, Wall Street Journal

Down in our nation’s capital, the day belongs to a lot of people: To retiring Supreme Court justice John Paul Stevens, who Monday capped his lengthy career on the court; to Elena Kagan, who survived her first day of Senatorial grilling; to Robert Byrd, an institution within the institution, who died on Monday at age 92.

But in the mind of some law professors and Supreme Court watchers, the day belonged to Justice Clarence Thomas, for his concurring opinion in McDonald v. Chicago. [link]
His opinion didn't make the papers.  His position went duly un-noted. Katie Couric was too busy singing the praises of that vapid candidate for the Court that Obama retched to acknowledge the brilliance of the effort.

But like the homage paid to "The Village Blacksmith":  Thanks, thanks to thee, my worthy friend, for the lesson thou hast taught!

Progressives Are Like Jock Itch

Why do they exist?

A world full of progressives, a world full of metaphors.

It reminds me of people who drive down here from Manhattan to extol the virtues of our precious boulders and weeds.  And then go back to the big city where they're perfectly - blissfully - satisfied with their creature comforts and concrete landscapes.

Progressives.  They're first on my list to go when the revolution begins.

Fears Of Deflation Will Have This Effect

The question becomes: How many printing presses will be required?
RBS tells clients to prepare for 'monster' money-printing by the Federal Reserve
By Ambrose Evans-Pritchard, International Business Editor, Telegraph of London

Investors basking in Wall Street's V-shaped rally had assumed that this bizarre episode was over. So did the Fed, which has been shutting liquidity spigots one by one. But the latest batch of data is disturbing.

The ECRI leading indicator produced by the Economic Cycle Research Institute plummeted yet again last week to -6.9, pointing to contraction in the US by the end of the year. It is dropping faster that at any time in the post-War era.

The latest data from the CPB Netherlands Bureau shows that world trade slid 1.7pc in May, with the biggest fall in Asia. The Baltic Dry Index measuring freight rates on bulk goods has dropped 40pc in a month. This is a volatile index that can be distorted by the supply of new ships, but those who watch it as an early warning signal for China and commodities are nervous.

Andrew Roberts, credit chief at RBS, is advising clients to read the Bernanke text very closely because the Fed is soon going to have to the pull the lever on "monster" quantitative easing (QE)".

"We cannot stress enough how strongly we believe that a cliff-edge may be around the corner, for the global banking system (particularly in Europe) and for the global economy. Think the unthinkable," he said in a note to investors. [link]
Assuming the effort to stop deflation with a mountain of currency flooding the marketplace is successful, what then?  Why do I see a whiplash effect kicking in, with hyper-inflation being the end result?

The global economy spins out of control.

Well, I Knew He'd Eventually Crash & Burn

But I thought it would be the weight of the evidence in the global warming debate, along with his predilection toward buffoonery, that would drive him into exile.

Not this:

Al Gore the Pervert.  Maybe he and Bill Clinton had more in common than we knew after all.

The United States Supreme Court

It's come to this:

Where once John Marshall, Hugo Black, Felix Frankfurter, Louis Brandeis, Oliver Wendell Holmes, and Benjamin Cardozo sat, vigilantly protecting the Constitution, we now look to Roseanne Roseannadanna for ... amusement.

My God.

Coming To a Hospital Near You

ObamaCare on its best day:
VA hospital may have infected 1,800 veterans with HIV
By the CNN Wire Staff

(CNN) -- A Missouri VA hospital is under fire because it may have exposed more than 1,800 veterans to life-threatening diseases such as hepatitis and HIV.

John Cochran VA Medical Center in St. Louis has recently mailed letters to 1,812 veterans telling them they could contract hepatitis B, hepatitis C and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) after visiting the medical center for dental work, said Rep. Russ Carnahan.

Carnahan said Tuesday he is calling for a investigation into the issue and has sent a letter to President Obama about it.

The issue stems from a failure to clean dental instruments properly, the hospital told CNN affiliate KSDK. [link]
Sounds a whole lot like those horror stories coming out of Britain on a regular basis, doesn't it?  Now the kind of government health care delivery that the Brits are saddled with - and the kind that our veterans are forced to endure - is coming your way.  To the hospital nearest you.

May God help those who will suffer and die because of it.
