Let's Hope He's Right

Here's a quote from the last Democrat to reside in Southwest Virginia - state Senator Phil Puckett:

"I've said to people, anyone who paid attention in the last session, that if Democrats lose control of the Senate, you're going to see a greatly different Virginia than what you see right now."

And he's right.

No more gun ban attempts.

No more tax increase proposals.

No more coal industry-destroying legislative efforts.

No more protecting scam artists and the junk science they promote.

Gay issues.  Environmental issues.  Fossil fuel issues.  ObamaCare issues.  "Diversity" issues.  Feminist issues.

Everything but freaking jobs issues.

Yeah, we get rid of Phil Puckett and every other Democrat who has done so much to inflict harm upon this state and it will surely be changed. For the better.

Let's hope that change is right around the corner.

Spot The Idiot

Conservatives are racists.

Oh, they support a black candidate for president?

That's because they're racists.

That's right.  The queen regnant of the intellectual elite in this country ...

... star of that towering Hollywood epic that will be enshrined in the pantheon of film classics for all time - "Wet Hot American Summer" ...

... Jeanine Garofolo says we're racists because we support a black candidate.

Brilliant.

I Knew There Was Something About Mitt Romney ...

... that I didn't like.

The friends he keeps.

Quote of the Day

From Mark Steyn:
Obama’s Wall Street Donors Look Elsewhere” (UPI). Gee, aren’t you the fellows who, when you buy a company, do something called “due diligence”? But you sunk everything into stock in Obamania Inc. on the basis of his “perfectly creased pant leg” or whatever David Brooks was drooling about that day? You handed a multi-trillion-dollar economy to a community organizer and you’re surprised that it led to more taxes, more bureaucracy, more regulation, more barnacles on an already rusting hulk?

Some Things I Never Want To Know

I'll be honest.  I don't know where the tunica albuginea meets the corpora cavernosa.

And I don't ever want to find out.

Another Waste Of Money

At least this black hole didn't suck up taxpayer money:
Solar-Gear Maker Files for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Protection
By Cassandra Sweet, Wall Street Journal

Solar-power equipment manufacturer Stirling Energy Systems Inc. has filed for bankruptcy, adding to a wave of troubles in the solar industry amid soft demand, falling prices and difficulty raising money.

Scottsdale, Ariz.-based Stirling Energy developed equipment that converts heat from the sun into electricity. Neither of the plants were able to obtain government loan guarantees, although both were sited on public land in California and obtained fast-track construction permits from the Obama administration.

Stirling filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection last Friday, after it failed to find a buyer for the company, according to documents filed with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Delaware.
The filing is the latest in a string of U.S. solar company bankruptcies, as soft global demand for solar power, falling prices and a glut of solar panels from Asia have hammered manufacturers. [link]
Lessons learned here?

1) Government - think Democrats - can't create consumer demand.  Only consumers can.

2) "Green energy" will not make it - at least for the foreseeable future - without massive government financial support.

3) With demand being "soft," don't put too much stock in Chinese solar panel companies either.  Despite a tremendous infusion of government yuan into the industry, there still have to be buyers for the product.  Except for government, there are woefully few buyers.

And, today, still, solar is inefficient and extremely expensive.  Return on investment?  How about never.

4) The only way solar will amount to anything in our lifetime is if coal, natural gas, and nuclear are made just as expensive.  And we're all forced into a life of poverty.

Obama's working on that.

But until he succeeds ...

5) Last and most important: Government is not required to learn lessons. Thus, in the news this morning:

Energy Department approves $4.7 billion in solar loan guarantees

For the love of God.

Obama Has Done The Impossible

He's united the left and the right in Congress.  Conservatives and liberals.  Republicans and Democrats.  Leftists and Tea Partiers.  United as one.

You know that "jobs" bill that The Great One dreamt up to create jobs get his skinny ass reelected?

Everyone in Congress is opposed.

Everyone.

The headline in 2009 read, "Obama has united a divided country."

Though wishful thinking then, it is certainly fact now.

Living In The Past

At least Vietnam War protesters knew why they protested.

In New York today?

They're against "corporate greed on Wall Street, global warming and social inequity, among other issues."

One can presume that the "other issues" includes the news that Ashton Kutcher has been cheating on Demi.

To the ramparts!

Anything.  Everything.  Nothing.

700 protesters were arrested yesterday.  Such a waste of human brain matter.

Here's the bright side: For a few brief hours, while these nitwits were incarcerated, the collective IQ of the nation rose.  And then fell, upon their release.

Oh, well.

Think those protesters were out there hoping to actually accomplish something?  How about this?

"I actually think it's kind of ridiculous," said a dreadlocked 20-year-old who identified himself as Pigpen. "The only reason 500 people are here is because they think [rock band] Radiohead is going to be here."

Not exactly the stuff that drove Martin Luther King to take to the streets.

- - -

Planning doesn't seem to be their forte either:

A crowd of more than 2,000 people ... massed outside what some mistakenly thought was NYPD headquarters.

Check this out.  Journalists.  What would we do without their unbiased reporting of the news?
