It shouldn't come as a shock to anyone the fact that the city of Detroit is soon to collapse. What struck me as eye-opening, though, was a YouTube video that I came upon recently. It's entitled ...
"The Ruins of Empire:The Packard Plant."
Why did a video of one of Detroit's many, many abandoned buildings surprise me?
The Packard plant, still there to be filmed - and whose demise to be lamented - closed down in 1958.
Fifty-three years ago.
And never bulldozed. Never revitalized. Never used again.
Ruins within a spreading agglomeration of ruins.
Detroit is soon to collapse. An implosion that has been many years in the making.

* On a side note, at least someone had the good sense in 2008 to put a match to the old Studebaker plant there (which ceased operation in 1926).
