A Sign of the Times

NBC has done this to itself by alienating most of us with its drivel and liberalism.  But then Univision - in its own right - has done it too:

Tanzina Vega of The New York Times reported Spanish-language broadcaster Univision took the opportunity during its upfront presentation Tuesday to do some gloating about its ratings gains against struggling NBC. (NBC has owned the other major Latino network, Telemundo, for the last ten years.)

During the presentation – which included a dance number – the network’s top ad salesman David Lawenda took a few shots at NBC by pointing to how Univision had beaten NBC on 195 nights in prime time last year, including a slide that showed the network’s peacock symbol keeling over.

This is a sign of how the English-language networks can at times lose in the ratings to a popular Spanish-language show in America. [link]
There will be those who will read this and be concerned that millions of people living in this country - of Hispanic origin - prefer watching Spanish-language television, which necessarily insulates them from the rest of America. But I don't worry. They'll come around.

The bigger story, as far as I'm concerned, has to do with the fact that NBC has sunk this low.

And that its executives seem incapable of doing anything about it.

Or, in the case of its blatantly biased news division, even wanting to do anything about its disastrous decline.

So be it. Viva Univision!
