See today's editorial "Gender politics in Congress." In it the Washington Post decries the nasty politics that has prevented the reauthorization of the "Violence Against Women Act." The Post calls for Republicans and Democrats to stop the bickering and approve reauthorization sooner rather than later.
But not really.
You see, the Republicans have passed a bill that does just that. They hammered out legislation that reauthorizes the "Violence Against Women Act." Done deal. But that's not acceptable to the Democrats. They demand that it be a "Violence Against Women, Native Americans, Immigrants, Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, and Transgender Victims of Domestic Violence Act."
The Post demands action. And an end to the partisan quarreling. And the adoption of the Democrat plan.
They want women protected against violence NOW.
You'd think a separate ""Violence Against Native Americans, Immigrants, Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, and Transgender Victims of Domestic Violence Act" would be a no-brainer. If these slimeballs truly wanted women protected against abuse. But don't hold your breath.
So who's playing politics here?
