Quote of the Day

From James Taranto:

"If the Democratic Party's leaders think an abortion convention is the key to victory, they are living in a bubble, albeit a considerably more capacious one than [Missouri Senate candidate Todd] Akin's.

"It was in 1992, the year Pat Buchanan gave his 'culture war' speech to the Republican National Convention, that James Carville, a strategist for Bill Clinton, coined the slogan 'The economy, stupid.' 'Abortion, stupid' is almost sure to sink Todd Akin, but we doubt it will save Barack Obama. The Democrats may be in the process of turning an opportunity in Missouri into a disaster nationwide."
