It Was On This Day ...

... July 4, in the year 1776, that a group of men, having assembled in the city of Philadelphia, declared the united colonies that they together represented free and independent from the government of the British Crown.

So that We the People could, lo these 236 years later, be completely dependent on, and equally subservient to, a different sovereign of similar omnipotence ruling from a different faraway land.

Who is it again that I need to call in Washington to obtain approval to take a dump?

I Am Now Officially a Terrorist?

So says the United States Department of Homeland Security:
Homeland Security Report Lists ‘Liberty Lovers’ As Terrorists
By Paul Joseph Watson, Infowars.com

A new study funded by the Department of Homeland Security characterizes Americans who are “suspicious of centralized federal authority,” and “reverent of individual liberty” as “extreme right-wing” terrorists.

Entitled Hot Spots of Terrorism and Other Crimes in the United States, 1970-2008, the study was produced by the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism at the University of Maryland. The organization was launched with the aid of DHS funding to the tune of $12 million dollars.

While largely omitting Islamic terrorism - the report fails completely to mention the 1993 World Trade Center bombing – the study focuses on Americans who hold beliefs shared by the vast majority of conservatives and libertarians and puts them in the context of radical extremism.

The report takes its definitions from a 2011 study entitled Profiles of Perpetrators of Terrorism, produced by the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism, in which the following characteristics are used to identify terrorists.

- Americans who believe their “way of life” is under attack;

- Americans who are “fiercely nationalistic (as opposed to universal and international in orientation)”;

- People who consider themselves “anti-global” (presumably those who are wary of the loss of American sovereignty);

- Americans who are “suspicious of centralized federal authority”;

- Americans who are “reverent of individual liberty”;

- People who “believe in conspiracy theories that involve grave threat to national sovereignty and/or personal liberty.”

The report also lists people opposed to abortion and “groups that seek to smite the purported enemies of God and other evildoers” as terrorists. [link]
In other words, everyone in this country who is not a Democrat is now considered a domestic terrorist by Obama's government.

I suppose it's easier for Janet Napolitano to send her terrorism warriors after the likes of me - I'm in the phone book - than to actually do something about Muslims in our midst who actually commit terrorist acts.

So be it.

It seems fitting to quote the words written by some famous ... terrorists ... long ago:

"[W]ith a firm reliance on the protection of Divine Providence, we mutually pledge to each other our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor."

Here's to the Tea Party.  May its members continue fighting the good fight.  Until that knock on the door ...

Jerry Fuhrman, domestic terrorist.  If only my Cub Scout Troop leader could see me now.

California Is On The Verge Of Collapse And ...

For the love of God:

California bill would let children have more than two parents

For the record, the politician who finds such nonsense more important than jobs, the economy, or the maintenance of our way of life is A DEMOCRAT.

I know.  You're shocked.

They Ask, I Answer

Investor's Business Daily:

Will Liberty Suffer For Years To Come Under A 'Roberts Court'?

Answer:

Only if We the People keep electing liberty-infringing Democrats to Congress.

It's that simple.

The Supreme Court is made up of nine politicians.  Oh, the shock.

Words Well Writ

Wesley Pruden on Chief Justice John Roberts new-found ... glory:

"The much-anticipated operation was a brilliant success, but the patient died. Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. is a clever surgeon, and he left a bloody mess to prove it. He’s in the Mediterranean now, on the island of Malta, lecturing to European lawyers about how to 'grow' in office, basking in the applause of fans of the welfare state."

Opening paragraph, "The seduction of Chief Justice Roberts," Washinton Times, July 3, 2012.

Is That Who I Think It Is?

Did you ever watch an old movie and catch a glimpse of an actor who looks familiar, but familiar from a  different setting from a different age?

So I'm watching the opening scene of the epic drama, "Gone With The Wind" yesterday evening and there on the front porch of her plantation home, "Tara," Scarlett O'Hara was sitting with two "suitors."  One of whom looked an awfully lot like ... could it be? ... Superman?

Sure enough, George Reeves - Man of Steel - played the role of Stuart Tarleton.  In 1939.

It was twelve years later that he was "leaping tall buildings with a single bound" and "bending steel with his bare hands."

Here he is (on the right) in "Gone With The Wind":

And here he is as the world remembers him:

"Faster than a speeding bullet.  More powerful than a locomotive ..."

Fascinating stuff.

He Was From A Simpler Time

A good man in a simpler time:

Andy Griffith: Beloved actor dies at 86

May he and ol' Barn' rest in peace together.

Environmentalists Are So Predictable

You knew this was coming:

"A growing chorus of environmental groups is blaming climate change for the ferocity of this year’s wildfires, heating up the debate over ..."

Like the West has never had a problem with wildfires.  Every year.  Since the dawn of Man.

The planet - emphasis on planet, not Yuma - has warmed a staggering 0.6° C. in the last thirty years.  Causing, according to the enlightened environmentalist crowd, pestilence, famine, disease, mayhem, overpopulation, Sarah Palin, and the common cold.

Me?  Consider me ... skeptical.
