Lest Ye Forget Who These People Are

They still don't believe in a woman's right to choose ... which kind of weapon she needs to protect herself and her kids:

"The draft language of the Democrats' 2012 platform — set for a final vote this week in Charlotte, N.C. — ... calls for 'reasonable regulation' governing guns, including laws banning assault weapons and requiring all gun sellers — not just licensed dealers — to perform background checks on potential buyers."

Translated, that means that, should your next-door neighbor wish to buy your .22 rifle, you will need to obtain a government background check on her.

What was that about a privacy clause in the Constitution?

Who elected these people king?

Maureen Dowd Speaks

Expect to see a lot of this over the next couple of days as the Democrats assemble in Charlotte to bash Bush and fill us full of hope. Or something. Again.

In fact the dismal state of affairs here in the USA isn't Obama's fault. He's only the leader of the free world and commander-in-chief of the most super-powerful nation this world has ever seen.  The most powerless super-powerful man on the planet.

Besides, Biden says your better off these days. So shut up.

Speaking of that ditzy columnist for the New York Times, you don't want to miss this: "Feeling Sorry for Maureen Dowd."

Let's Put A Price Tag On Compassion

I'm reminded of this exchange between Jay Leno and Dennis Miller on the "Jay Leno Show" last month.  Leno tells Miller that the Republican Party has a problem in that it isn't "compassionate."  Miller responds by saying - in so many words - that's tough; he's all compassioned out.

Check out this chart showing compassion in dollar value over the years:

America does, in fact, have a compassion problem.  We can no longer afford it.  We quit being able to afford to maintain that steep rise in compassion about ten years ago.

It was one thing when we were talking about feeding the poor.  Now we feed, clothe, shelter, educate,  transport, equip, treat, bury, and even entertain them.

Is it any wonder there are so many of them now?

Is it any wonder we're compassioned out?

Hey, It's Only Your Hard-Earned Income

Three points.

1) What?

2) Why?

3) Why?

To Back Democracy, U.S. Prepares to Cut $1 Billion From Egypt’s Debt

What?  The beaten-down people of this hard-pressed country are giving money - mountains of it - to the radically anti-western Muslim Brotherhood?

Why on earth would we pay them to provide their people with the right to vote?

Why aren't we getting as far away from those extremists as possible?

We're paying dearly those who hate us.  For the love of God.

Chris Matthews Clings To The Obama Who Isn't

In his own words:

"President Obama is the product of our turbulent history, all that came before led to him. [He] needs to continue making history," for "the moment he becomes just another incumbent president, bogged down in the status quo, he will lose something vital since we first met him: his historic self."

Obama can't simply be president.  He has to remain a mythic figure who has risen above all earthly endeavors.

How does one reason with that?

It's not for nothing that Chris Matthews Took Home Trophy As Most Over-the-Top Pundit.

A Quotation That Will Transcend Time

Joe Biden:

"America is better off today than they left us when they left."

Don't ask me.  I have no idea either.  But it must be pithy.  He's the vice president of the United States, for God's sake.
