Someday Someone Should Ask Why

And expect an answer that goes beyond because:

Roanoke's cultural assets require a dependable funding stream

That "dependable funding stream" being what little is left in your wallet, of course.

What say the effete elite in Roanoke fund their own "cultural assets" and leave everyone else alone?

Liberals & The Limits Of Free Speech

It boils down to this: they are entitled to free and unfettered speech.  The rest of us?  Let's put it this way -  they're going to need a whole lot more prisons.

Let's shine some light on the mindset:

The eight dumbest things said about free speech this week

Here's the thing about small-minded attempts at controlling speech in this country: When liberals start making their lists of transgressors, we'll start making ours.  And we have all the guns.

A suggestion to America's liberals: Don't go there.  Let freedom ring.

Or it's your ass.

'Obama Should Resign'

Professor Glenn Reynolds on our President's dereliction of duty:
WHY BARACK OBAMA SHOULD RESIGN. Just for the record, this is what it looked like for a man who made a film that made the Obama Administration uncomfortable.

Here’s the key bit: “Just after midnight Saturday morning, authorities descended on the Cerritos home of the man believed to be the filmmaker behind the anti-Muslim movie that has sparked protests and rioting in the Muslim world.”

When taking office, the President does not swear to create jobs. He does not swear to “grow the economy.” He does not swear to institute “fairness.” The only oath the President takes is this one:

"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."

By sending — literally — brownshirted enforcers to engage in — literally — a midnight knock at the door of a man for the non-crime of embarrassing the President of the United States and his administration, President Obama violated that oath. You can try to pretty this up (It’s just about possible probation violations! Sure.), or make excuses or draw distinctions, but that’s what’s happened. It is a betrayal of his duties as President, and a disgrace.

He won’t resign, of course. First, the President has the appreciation of free speech that one would expect from a Chicago Machine politician, which is to say, none. Second, he’s not getting any pressure. Indeed, the very press that went crazy over Ari Fleischer’s misrepresented remarks seems far less interested in the actions of an administration that I repeat, literally sent brown-shirted enforcers to launch a midnight knock on a filmmaker’s door.

But Obama’s behavior — and that of his enablers in the press — has laid down a marker for those who are paying attention. By these actions he is, I repeat, unfit to hold office. I hope and expect that the voters will agree in November.
Ours is a less free America this morning. Because the world's Muslims demanded it.

I am ashamed for my country.

What Obama Should Have Said ...

... before we started detaining people here in the land of the free for thought crimes in order to appease the planet's Muslim fanatics.

Ann Althouse passes on that which Obama should have made clear: We will uphold our principles of freedom of action, freedom of speech, and the rule of law first (my words, not hers):
I love the continued focus on this idiot as if he has ANYTHING to answer to. He is an American citizen, therefore he has the right to say much worse about 'the prophet' Muhammad, 'the son of god' Jesus Christ and any other 'god' or 'prophet' that he wants to. The American media, predictably, is acting as if this man has something to answer for (or answer to). Good video or not, effective video or not, offensive video or not, untruthful video or not, this man has NOTHING to answer for. Anyone who claims otherwise is an enemy of America, because they are an enemy of the First Amendment (which is what makes America America). This man may have to face civil action from the actors or other participants in the film, but that is a side matter. The film in and of itself is not anything he owes anyone an explanation for.
Maybe it's time Obama started defending American citizens rather than those who kill us?

Or as Kirsten Powers put it:

"Our leaders shouldn't let our enemies know that when they kill our people and attack our embassies that the U.S. government will act like a battered wife making excuses for her psychotic husband."

Just a thought.

One Down. Thirty To Go.

Isn't it about time we let the Muslim world self-destruct?  Isn't it time we quit pretending that we can make a difference there?  Isn't it time we did more of this?

US closes embassy amid reports Sudan rejected request to send Marines

Closed forever, one can hope.

Sudan wouldn't have been my first choice.  But it's a start.

Get out.  Stay out.  Let them kill one another.  It's what they do.

Thought Of The Day

As the federal government plots to use that amateur filmmaker who enraged the entire Muslim world as its sacrificial lamb in the vain hope of appeasing the madmen (he's seen here being "voluntarily" hauled in by an army of deputies for interrogation), there's this:

It's amusing to hear our President and his carnival barker - what's his name, Carney? - talk about how "reprehensible" attacks on one's religion are.  This time in this instance anyway.

When Muslims were killing Christians for being Christians where were these moral crusaders?

They didn't care.

Breaking News

Someone tell Hillary:

Al Qaeda in Yemen urges Muslims to kill U.S. diplomats over film

Over "the film."  Over our infidelity.  Over the clothes we wear.  The songs we sing.  The air we breathe ...

What part of this did Hillary - and her boss - not get the memo about over the last two decades?

When Did They Have Their First Clue?

In today's New York Times there's this startling revelation:

Attack by Fringe Group Highlights the Problem of Libya’s Militias

As everyone this side of Hillary could have told the geniuses there, those "Libyan militias" - led by that obscure "fringe group" that goes by the name Al Qaeda - were a problem long before that attack - on 9/11/12 - "highlighted" it.

Willful negligence.  Willful ignorance.  There's no other way to put it.

He's referring, of course, to ...

... Mitt Romney.

I think he's serious.
